Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Grain and Bolt accepts orders for goods via distance communication. By placing an order, you are deemed to have understood and accepted these terms.
‘Distance communication’ refers to any communication without the simultaneous physical presence of the supplier and the customer (e.g., website orders, emails, or telephone conversations). These terms apply strictly to such orders.
None of the terms below affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

Making a Purchase

Every order clearly displays the products, quantities, and prices. Where applicable, delivery costs and VAT are included in the final price. All prices displayed on the website include VAT at the prevailing rate.

Promotion Codes

From time to time, Grain and Bolt may offer promotion codes applicable to specific products or purchases.

  • Promotion codes entitle you to an offer on your online order at www.grainandbolt.co.uk.
  • To use a code, enter it into the ‘Apply Discount Code’ box within your online basket. Only one code can be used per order.
  • Codes cannot be applied retrospectively once an order has been placed.
  • Promotion codes cannot be redeemed against postage charges or sale items unless otherwise stated.
  • We reserve the right to cancel, withdraw, or restrict promotion codes at any time, particularly in cases of technical error or suspected fraud.
  • There is no cash alternative.

Delivery

  • Free Delivery: Available on all orders above £1095 (inc. VAT).
  • Hardware Only: Free delivery on orders for door hardware only above £400 (inc. VAT).
  • Standard Areas: Free delivery is subject to the delivery address being within our standard delivery zones. We will notify you if your address falls outside these areas.
  • Kerbside Delivery: All deliveries are to the nearest accessible kerbside. It is the customer’s responsibility to provide adequate able–bodied persons to move the goods from the kerbside into the property.

Product Images and Information

All product images are for general illustration only. As wood is a natural product, variations in texture, grain, and colour are inevitable. All transactions are entered into on the understanding that photographic images are not a precise representation of the final product.
Data errors can occur; the customer agrees not to hold Grain and Bolt liable for losses arising from reliance on technical mistakes or pricing errors displayed on the website.

Payment

Grain and Bolt accepts most major UK debit and credit cards, as well as bank transfers. The customer is responsible for any bank transfer costs. All goods must be paid for in full prior to delivery.

Contract Formation

For telephone and email orders, the purchase order confirmation email constitutes an offer to process your order. A contract is formed only once Grain and Bolt has confirmed the order can be fulfilled and payment has been received in full.

Unfinished Doors

An unfinished door is designed to be finished by the end user. All unfinished wooden doors require a suitable finish (oil or oil–based paint) to protect the timber.

  • Application: Finishing should be carried out while the door is lying flat to ensure an even coating and avoid drips.
  • Process: This typically requires a light sand, followed by the application of several coats including a top coat.
  • Requirement: All unfinished doors must be finished before installation. Failure to apply a fit–for–purpose finish will void any related guarantees.

Time of Essence

Grain and Bolt shall not be liable for any losses resulting from a delay in delivery. Time shall not be of the essence unless specifically agreed upon in writing.

Failed Delivery & Inspection

  • Presence: Transactions are made on the understanding that the customer (or a representative) will be present to accept delivery on the specified date. If delivery fails because no one is present, an additional charge will be applied for repeat delivery.
  • Inspection: It is the customer’s responsibility to inspect the goods at the time of delivery. Unless goods are rejected at the point of delivery and valid reasons provided, the customer is deemed to have accepted the goods in good condition.

External Doors

Due to weathering, all unfinished timber external doors must be treated with a suitable microporous, full–coverage topcoat designed specifically for exterior timber. This allows the wood to breathe while preventing moisture build–up. Failure to use a fit–for–purpose finishing coat will render any manufacturer guarantee invalid.

Your Right to Cancel (14–Day Money Back Guarantee)

If you change your mind, you may return unused items in their original condition within 14 days of receipt for an exchange or refund.

  • Process: You must email [Email Address] stating your order number and reason for cancellation.
  • Condition: To be eligible, items must be unused and in the same condition as received.
  • Packaging: If you intend to cancel, goods must not be unpacked on arrival and must be returned on the original pallet for protection.
  • Costs: The customer is responsible for the cost of returning items via a reputable, insured carrier. The item remains your responsibility until it reaches us.
  • Faulty Items: In the unlikely event of a fault, you must notify us via email within 48 hours of receipt, including photographic evidence.
  • Exclusions: We do not offer returns on ‘Special Order’ products (custom sizes, specific finishes, or bespoke timber sections) unless they are deemed faulty. No orders can be returned after 30 days from the invoice date.
